
Perched on a steep rock, Venasque is a very picturesque village, listed as one of “the most beautiful French villages”. It gave its name to the Comtat Venaissin. To enhance the defensive aspect, a wall was built on the spur at the gallo-roman era. Semi-circular towers were added to these fortifications. All along the main street, you will see houses from the 14th to 18th century. On one of the small squares throughout the street, you will notice a beautiful 18th century fountain.
